Director of X_Plore Lab

Weill Cornell Medicine

Bio:

I am an Assistant Professor of Population Health Sciences in the Division of Health Informatics at Weill Cornell Medicine, where I joined the faculty in 2021 after earning a Ph.D. in Social Work from NYU and an M.Phil. from the University of Hong Kong. My interdisciplinary research leverages large longitudinal datasets, machine learning, and natural language processing to examine how social determinants drive disparities in suicide and mental health—especially among marginalized and racial/ethnic minority groups . I lead NIH- and foundation-funded projects, including a recent NIMH R01 grant and AFSP-backed work, as well as serving as a Google Research Scholar—all aimed at developing culturally tailored, data-driven tools for suicide prevention and health equity. Trained across health informatics, social work, psychiatry, and economics, I am passionate about translating machine learning models into actionable interventions for clinicians, policymakers, and communities. Outside the lab, I channel creativity into violin playing, photography, painting, calligraphy, and writing sci‑fi scripts.
